The Duel Activity will be Changed to the PvP Arena - A Real Minigame

A few days ago, the Old School RS published a blog on their official website. In the article, we found that there would be some changes to Al Kharid Duel Arena. That means the duel activity may become a Minigame in the future, and the name may be changed to The PVP Arena. Now let’s take a view on what will change together.

Main Changes of the Activity

You should register to join the activity, either for a 1v1 Tournament or 1v1 Battle. Once the fight is ready, you'll be notified to prepare for the battle. The battle takes place on an alternative save game world but not on the standard game world. 

All players have the same stats: Level 50 Attack/Strength/Ranged/Magic, Level 70 Defence, Level 99 Prayer/Hitpoints/Agility. But there are some options to choose to specialise into a primary Combat style.

The stats are improved for each style you have chosen:

Melee: Attack 85, Strength 95
Ranged: Ranged 95
Mage: Magic 95

You need to choose a secondary style after selecting the primary style. The options are: 

Melee: Attack 70, Strength 80
Ranged: Ranged 80
Mage: Magic 80

Once the fight is over, you will be transferred to the standard game world, where you left for the battle. If you win the battle, you will gain Rank Points and Reward Points.

The Game Matchmaking Options

There are three options available to choose: 1v1 Tournaments, Ranked 1v1 Duels, and Unranked 1v1 Duels.

1v1 Tournaments

The Tournament consists of 4 to 64 players from all the game worlds. Register yourself via the PvP Arena side-panel to join a Tournament. At the start, all players are divided into several 1v1 battle teams. Then all winners will be divided into some 1v1 battle teams again until there are two winners left. The last two winners fight for the victory. Depending on your final place, you will gain Rank and Reward Points.

Ranked 1v1 Duels

Don’t want to commit to a full Tournament? The Ranked 1v1 Duels is right for you. Once registered in the Ranked 1v1 Duel, the game will automatically choose a player of similar rank for you. After winning, you will receive the Rank and Reward Points.

Unranked 1v1 Duels

In unranked 1v1 duels, you can find which player you want to fight with no rank limit. But there are no rewards after winning. Just practice!

The PvP Arena Rewards

You can buy some items with the PVP Arena Reward points. Note that the rewards are focused on PvP, you will simply be unable to attack anything other than players when wearing any of the non-cosmetic items.

New Blighted Sacks (untradable)

A Blighted Wave Sack that supplies the Runes required for any Wave spell.
A Blighted Surge Sack that supplies the Runes required for any Surge spell.

You can imbue the following items with the Imbue Scrolls

Black mask
Salve amulet
Salve amulet (e)
Seers ring
Archers ring
Warrior ring
Berserker ring
Ring of the Gods
Tyrannical ring
Treasonous ring
Ring of Suffering
Granite ring
Slayer helmet

Gears

Wristbands of the Arena (untradeable alternative to Barrows Gloves)
Centurion Cuirass (untradeable alternative to Fighter Torso)
Calamity Chest & Breeches (untradeable alternative to the Void Armour)
Maoma's Headgear (untradeable alternative to the Void Melee helm)
Koriff's Headgear (untradeable alternative to the Void Ranged helm)
Saika's Headgear (untradeable alternative to the Void Mage helm)

Others

Amulet of Souls. The amulet is created by combining an Amulet of Fury, an Onyx and an Amulet of Souls Scroll (Purchased from the PvP Arena Reward Store). You will be given another life instead of dying in PVP if it is equipped. And also you can use it to cure any Poison or Venom with 5 HP.

Thaw Potion and Flame Rose. Combining a Flame Rose (Purchased from the PvP Arena Reward Store), Dwarf Weed, White Lily and a Vial of Water will create a Thaw Potion. You can get immunity from Binding spells for 10 seconds by drinking the potion. But note that it can only be used every two minutes!

New Left-Click Teleport. Purchased from the PVP Arena Reward Store. You can use it to teleport to the PvP Arena up to level 30 Wilderness.

These are the latest news about the PVP arena from the Old School RS official blog. There may be new changes in the future.
