Stop Using Unapproved Third-party OSRS Clients
Do you know any third-party OSRS clients? Are you using one of them?
All third-party clients, made by players or other non-Jagex organizations, make the gameplay easier. For example, the quest help plug-in of Runelite can guide you to complete a quest step by step. The loot tracker can show you the drops and the values you got from killing monsters. These functions are not available in the official client.
However, some clients' plug-ins are too powerful to allow players who use them to gain more benefits, which is unfair to players who do not use them. For this reason, Jagex has updated a blog about the use of third-party clients.
Approved Third-party Clients
Jagex staff will review all plug-ins of third-party clients and check whether the plug-ins are compliant. If there is no problem with the plug-ins of a client, the client is approved.
There are three approved third-party clients: RuneLite, OSBuddy, and HDOS. You can use any of them with confidence.
The Risk of Using Unapproved Third-party Clients
The use of any other third-party clients like OpenOSRS is not allowed. After Friday, June 24th, 2022, accounts that use unapproved third-party clients will be at risk of being banned.
If players use unapproved clients beyond this date, Jagex will disable their accounts for two weeks. Continuing using them after two weeks will result in a permanent account ban.
