OSRS Ruinous Powers Shelved But Desert Treasure 2 is Coming
We are sad that the Old Schoo Runescape team has shelved the Ruinous Powers. Perhaps this prayer book is not suitable for OSRS. From a long-term perspective, it seems that this decision is reasonable. After all, this game is an old school. In a sense, this new prayer book goes beyond the scope of the old school. Despite consuming many resources and time, they decisively shelved this prayer book.
Why Shelved?
Many players feel that the Ruinous Powers are relatively mundane, and there are not many new things compared to the current prayer book, but only changes in numbers, such as increasing the attack bonus. So, it doesn't really match up with the initial vision for a new prayer book.
Adding a prayer book doesn't seem like a quick project to complete - not only considering whether it is suitable for the current game but also the development and expansion of the game in the future. It seems that this project is impossible to complete in the short term.
It is already mid-year 2023, and DT2 is about to be released. However, as one of the rewards for this OSRS quest, it has not been improved yet, which will affect the release date of DT2. For the long-awaited new quest and bosses, it seems necessary to give up some things.
For the OSRS team, 2023 is a busy year, especially when adding a new skill. Compared to a new prayer book, the new skill will take more time and is much more critical than a prayer book. We hope Jagex will spend more time on the new skill so that players can experience it in the game as soon as possible.
The Future of Ruinous Powers?
We will not be progressing further with the Ruinous Powers Prayer book. - the OSRS team said. Some players and the OSRS team have lost confidence in the new prayer book. So they will not spend more resources on this new prayer book.
Shelving new prayer books does not mean they will stop exploring new prayers, such as the existing Preserve, Rigour, and August.
