New Wilderness Extension - OSRS Game Jam 2022
April 4 to April 8 was the time of the Old School Runescape game jam. During that time, Jagex content developers gathered to discuss the latest projects. Of course, these projects have not yet appeared in the game and may not appear in the future. Let's look at one of the projects today: the Wilderness Extension.
There is nothing but the ocean in the northernmost of the Wilderness, and it is a peaceful place. So, what will happen in the future?
Bridge of Fate
You can find The Bridge of Fate north of the Deserted Keep, and it is the entrance to the new extension area. Once you cross the bridge, anyone at any level can attack you because there are no combat level restrictions as in the former Wilderness.
Wilderness City
The Exiled Fremenniks, who sailed to the deep wild, built this Wilderness city with a Bank, an Altar, a General store, and a Tele spot, and they called it Skallevik. So you will find that all NPCs are Fremenniks PKers with skull marks in this city. We can also find an OSRS Quest mark on the map introduced as the First ever PK quest, Skulled Up! You can upgrade your Enchanted Lyre by completing the Wilderness activities and using the Lyre to travel to the city quickly, while the boat found in the far north can take you to Rellekka.
New Wilderness Bosses
In the extended area, there are three new Wilderness Bosses.
Skull Golem boss: You can find the Level 912 boss on the Skull Island, west of the Wilderness city. You can walk there or safe transport to the island by paying some OSRS Gold as the fee. The potential drops can upgrade Thammaron’s Sceptre to make it auto-cast the Lunar spells.
Dragon boss - Vulcu: You can find the Level 774 boss in a Multi-area called Deathfire Volcano, in the middle of the extended area. You can get Deathfire Visage, Lava Visage, Vulcans Bow, and Thamaron’s Lava Attachment as potential drops.
Rat boss: You can find the rat boss in Rat Enclave, south of Deathfire Volcano. And the potential drops are Rat Pack, Stun Javelin, and Rat Slippers.
Corrupted Revenant Ruins
It is a multi-combat revenants area. Gain energy in the Resource area first to unlock the caves to get inside. There are three entrances, and only one opens at one time, which changes over a while. The Corrupted Revenant caves have improved loot than the standard ones.
New Resource Area
You can get doubled or tripled resources with no increase in XP rates, and a key or tokens for unlocking the door are needed. You will gain energy for the Corrupted Revenant caves unlocked by collecting resources in the area.
Skull Impling - Hunter
The Skull Impling (jar?) is untradeable. With level 78 Hunter (88 if barehanded), you must wield a Butterfly net/Magic Butterfly net and have an empty impling jar in your inventory to catch it. Loot the Skull impling jar to get: Black Chinchompas, 1 Larrens Key, Lava Dragon Bones, Ring of the Fate (5 Skallevik teleport Charges, and break upon last use), and more.
Artifact Escort - Small Safe pouch
There are 10 Escort NPCs around in the Wilderness who are selling Artifacts. They will ask you to deliver the Artifact to a random NPC after you have purchased it. And you will get reward tokens after completing the tasks (not sure about it). Then you can use them to exchange for the Small Safe pouch. The pouch works like a looting bag, but you will not drop it upon death. You can not store stackable items in it and can only withdraw items from it at a bank in the Wilderness. You can upgrade it to a Medium or Large pouch with some small ones.
Additionally, we can find the Bounty Hunter Island, Stokkr, and Wilderness Agility course extension in the project. Wait, here is the first OSRS World Boss - a powerful, corrupted foe with a Level of 2500 and Hitpoints of 60,000. Are you afraid to face it?
We like the Wilderness expansion very much. How about you?
