Forestry: The Way of the Forester - A Woodcutting Expansion

The OSRS team announced a Woodcutting expansion: Forestry: the way of the forester, during the OSRS Winter Summit. It will be live in the game in the middle of 2023.

What is Forestry

Forestry is an upcoming social-focused expansion to core Woodcutting, introducing new events and expanding the skill's economic offerings.

How to Play

Talk to the Freaky Forester and get a Forestry Kit from him, then cut trees in the wild – where there are trees, there is Forestry! Don't worry about the tree de-spawning because grouping up is no longer punished, and perhaps you will get bonuses when more players are cutting the same tree. Besides, players can play together at any Woodcutting level.

You may have a chance to encounter some Forestry events:

chasing away poachers

culling the pheasant population

rehoming bees

giving a friendly tree ent a stylish haircut

meeting the mysterious inhabitants

There may be more events while it is in the game.

Rewards

Of course, it is one of the OSRS Woodcutting training methods. You will get Woodcutting experience. There are some more extra rewards, too.

Leaves

You will collect leaves alongside Logs, and you can use them to build special Forester's campfires or brew fancy artisanal teas packed with healthy nutrients – and buffs!

Forestry currency

A new Forestry currency that you can use (along with Logs of all tiers) to purchase unique rewards and components for your Forestry Kit.

You can sell these components to other players for profit. Even you can make them if you are good at other production or gathering skills.

Unique rewards

The unique rewards (purchased with the Forestry currency) may include:

log basket

two-handed axes

a bee box for your Player Owned House

perhaps even another way to obtain the Lumberjack Outfit
